October is LGBT History Month, celebrating the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender icons.
A new LGBT icon is being featured each day on the LGBT History website with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images and other resources.
This year’s list includes such inspiring role models as the first transgender NCAA basketball star, a Pulitzer Prize winning poet, and a world-renowned composer among activists, actors, artists, and human rights heroes.
Today’s icon is political commentator, Daily Voice editor, and New York Times bestselling author, Keith Boykin, who participated in the 2008 Out & Equal Workplace Summit.
Out & Equal salutes all of these LGBT icons, and encourages everyone to explore the LGBT History Month website, which is rich with information about our history, our heroes, and those that have worked, and continue to work, to make things better for the LGBT community.
